General Rules | Sportsman/Pro Stock | Super Stock | Late Model | 4 Cylinder 2008 Berlin Raceway Pro Stock / Sportsman Rules * Changes from last year's rules are noted in red.
These rules below apply to both the Pro Stock and Sportsman divisions. Differences between the two divisions are as follows: A. Tires - different tires will be designated for each division. B. Drivers must declare which division they will be competing in upon drawing for qualifying order each week. Once a declaration has been made, drivers may not switch to the other division for the remainder of that raceday. C. Pro Stock division has a 60.00% maximum left side weight rule. D. Pro Stock division will be allowed spoilers, maximum 5"; high and 60"; long. No spoilers for Sportsman division. E. Pro Stock Spoiler must run forward and attach to rear bumper cover. F. Roof height for Pro Stock is 49" minimum at 10" and 28" from top of windshield. Roof height for Sportsman is 50" minimum at 24" from top of windshield. 1. CHASSIS / CONSTRUCTION A. 5" minimum frame height. B. Tubular front sub frame (clip) is optional, but if used must meet dimensions of Howe # 358-8-01. The rails in a tubular front clip must be 2" x 4" minimum. C. Tubular center section is optional (square or rectangular only). D. Perimeter frame (center section), whether tubular or stock, must meet stock dimension of minimum 54" outside rail to outside rail. Tubing must be 2" x 3" minimum. Equal kickout; no offset frames or cages. E. Rear kick-up must be 2" x 3" rectangular tubing, .083 minimum thickness (.090 recommended), and must go over the rear axle. No under-axle frames are allowed; no under-axle supports except for panhard bar bracing. F. Roll cage is mandatory. G. Steel front firewall from fender to fender, top of frame to dash (stock location). H. All interior panels immediately surrounding the driver must be steel. I. 3000 lbs minimum before and after the race (car and driver). J. 60.00% maximum left side weight before and after the race, with driver in seated position (Pro Stock only). K. 108" minimum wheel base. L. 76" maximum track width (measured from outside sidewall to outside sidewall). M. Rear frame rails must be inside of rear tires. 2. FRONT SUSPENSION A. Stock appearing steering - OEM style. B. Heim joints are allowed, steel only. C. Lower control arms must be stock with 5" diameter minimum spring and must be mounted in stock location - no sliding or adjustables. D. Stock steering box is required. E. Tubular upper control arms are permitted. F. Sway bar in stock location and must appear stock. G. Shocks: 3. REAR SUSPENSION A. Minimum 5" o.d. springs must be directly on top of and in line with the rear-end housing. B. Any stock rear-end is permitted. C. No independent rear suspension. D. Must have aftermarket axles, made for racing only (no "C" clip axles). E. No rubber biscuits. F. Rubber rod ends are permitted (stock type only). G. Any type Panhard bar permitted. H. No in-line torque links. Ends must be in view; not boxed in. I. Shocks: 4. BODY A. Body panels must be either steel, aluminum, fiberglass or plastic. B. NO OFF-SET bodies. C. No wedge-shaped bodies (front to back). D. Nose height is minimum 25"measured at the point where the nose and front fender intersect. E. 45" maximum length from center of front hub to tip of nose. F. Front and rear bumper covers must match (GM to GM, Ford to Ford, etc.). No altering or cutting of bumper covers allowed. Must not extend beyond end of sidewall. G. Front windshields and rear windows are mandatory (Lexan only). Rear windows must be braced. H. Spoiler - 46" maximum setback, both left and right side (center of rear axle to base of spoiler). I. No extended side window wind deflectors. J. 5" minimum nose and rocker panel height. K. Rear decklid - 26" maximum from center of rear window to base of the spoiler. L. 16.5" maximum rear bumper height (bottom of bumper to ground). M. Rub rails: "clean" with closed ends, not to protrude more than 1". No protruding bolts or sharp edges. N. Hood: No scoops, no louvers, one air intake opening allowed but must be at bottom edge of front windshield and no wider than 4" front to back. Flat hood. O. Cars: No Camaros, Firebirds, Corvettes, Mustangs or DOWNFORCE BODIES. P. Trucks: 5. ENGINE A. American made V8 engines only. B. Mufflers - up and over conventional headers are optional. 180 degree type headers are ok. C. Cast iron heads and blocks only. D. Aluminum intake optional. E. Stock engine location: #1 spark plug in line with both upper ball joints. F. Must have overflow catch can on radiator. G. Exhaust pipes must not protrude from body. Side exhaust is recommended. H. No electric fuel pumps. I. Fuel cells mandatory. 6. GENERAL A. 8" maximum wheel width, steel wheels made for racing only. B. Pro Stock/Sportsman cars coming to tech must enter from the backstretch dirt drive (may not drive through the center of the pits to reach tech area). C. TIRE RULE: 7. SAFETY A. Window opening: No add-ons or filler pieces of any kind except for vent window, which must be no more than 6". B. On-board fire suppression system with minimum 5 pound extinguisher is recommended. 5 pound fire extinguisher mounted in car is required. |
