General Rules:
1. Each driver must fill out an entry blank. All drivers must supply their own cars; only one entry per person unless otherwise specified.
2. Each driver must be 16 years of age or older. If ages 16 or 17, must have parent of guardian sign a minor release form.
3. Pit admittance age is 16 years. If ages 16 or 17, must have parent of guardian sign a minor release form.
4. Car and driver must be signed in and inspected at the track at least one hour prior to show time. No refund of pre-entry fee if you arrive late. NO EXCEPTIONS!
5. Driver and pit crew fully accept and assume the responsibility and liability of properly and safely constructing his/her Demo Scramble car as well as his/her actions and behavior at the event, and acknowledge that Berlin Raceway, Inc. does not expressly or impliedly warrant the safety of, or the manner in which the participants have constructed their Demo Scramble car or any of its component parts, or their actions and behavior at the event. Driver is responsible for the actions of his pit crew in all respects.
6. Berlin Fair officials and/or the promoters reserve the right to approve or reject any entry.
7. ABSOLUTELY NO alcoholic beverages of any type are allowed to be consumed in the pit/infield area during or before the competition.
8. Anyone under the influence of intoxicating beverages or drugs prior to or during the show disqualifies the car and crew of the offending party.
9. A driver will be disqualified if any door comes open during his heat.
10. There will be no hitting of the drivers door or head-on crashes. This will lead to disqualification.
11. No pit board signs allowed ‚ no two-way radio allowed in car.
12. Do not exit your car during a heat unless an official has said to do so, or until the checkered flag has been given.
13. All injuries must be reported to officials before you leave the event.
14. Berlin Fair officials and/or the promoters will not be held responsible for any cars, parts or personal property before, during and after the show or overnight.
15. This event will have jumps, curves and corners consisting of a number of laps per heat and a feature that will be announced at driver's meeting.
16. This event will consist of individual heats with winner and runner-up advancing to the feature. You must drive the same car in feature that you drove in the heat.
Safety And Preparation of Car:
1. The WMOR Demo Scramble is designed for the use of smaller automobiles. Only full bodied, front engine (maximum six cylinder) passenger cars and station wagons will be allowed. Maximum wheel base 111 inches. NO vans, 4-wheel drive, sport utility, T-tops or convertible vehicles are allowed in this class.
2. If the original gas tank as factory stock is located completely in front of the rear axle, it can remain and be used in that position. However, it must be completely banded around the floor pan in two additional locations with steel straps or plumber's strap.
3. Stock gas tank must be removed if it is above or behind rear axle. An auxiliary tank must be placed on floor pan from midline of car interior to left side of vehicle behind the driver's seat and no further rearward than front of rear axle.
4. Auxiliary tank must be of steel or a designated plastic fuel tank, not to exceed six (6) gallon capacity. (Portable marine outboard tank recommended.)
5. Auxiliary tank must be securely fastened to floor pan and around and through floor pan.
6. ALL GAS LINE THROUGH INTERIOR OF CAR MUST BE STEEL OR BRAIDED STEEL. However a maximum length of twelve (12) inches of non-steel/braided steel gas line hose and clamps can be used for coupler (connection) off the auxiliary tank.
7. Tank must have a secured cap. All gas lines and fittings must be leak-proof.
8. Auxiliary tank must be completely covered and cover secured such that it precludes gasoline from splashing on driver in the event of rupture.
9. Auxiliary tank cover must be removed for vehicle inspection.
10. Absolutely no one (1) to five (5) gallon carrying gas cans allowed for auxiliary tank.
11. Any leakage of fuel will lead to immediate disqualification of car. Electric fuel pumps must have on/off switch. Must be within driver's reach and labeled.
12. All glass must be removed from car. This includes mirrors, tail lights, head lights and windshield. Screen may be used in place of windshield.
13. Mandatory bar must be installed between roof and cowl (middle of windshield). This is to keep hood from coming into driver's compartment.
14. Rolling windows down is not permitted. (Glass must be completely removed.)
15. Driver window net if used must be WEB STYLE and quick release. NO steel, screen or permanent fixture of any kind over driver door window opening.
16. Safety glasses, goggles or shield must be worn.
17. Seat belt, shoulder harness and full helmet with shin strap are required. If no shoulder harness, must wear a full face helmet. (Both are recommended.) (5 point shoulder harness recommended.)
18. Chrome moldings, antenna and any dangerous objects must be removed. No protruding front or rear frame horns (ends). Must be rounded or flatten.
19. A roll cage is recommended (but not required). If building a roll cage, it must be restricted to driver and front passenger compartment only. No bars through front firewall. Top roll bar height must be above driver's head as seated in car. Top roll bar (hoop) located behind driver front passenger seat. Inside horizontal roll bar brace from left to right side is to be placed directly behind driver-passenger front seat. (This applies to 2 door as well as 4 door.) Door protection bars must remain inside door outer sheet metal. Absolutely NO outer bars extending into rear seat area or outside of car. The roll bar cage is to be designed for the protection of the driver.
20. Only one (1) automobile type battery is permitted and it may be located in any position of the car. Battery must be securely fastened and covered.
21. It is recommended that all engine mounts are chained, wired, or welded down.
22. Radiator and transmission cooler must remain in original position or be removed. Radiator mud screen will be subject to the discretion of the officials. No steel grating. All anti-freeze should be flushed and only water added.
23. 23. One horizontal piece of pipe may be placed in front of radiator, to be supported by two vertical pieces of pipe coming off frame with a support pipe not exceeding 18" back from horizontal pipe. All pipe not to exceed 2" in diameter. This reinforcement, if made, is intended for protection of radiator only and must be behind front bumper in grill area not to exceed beyond the width of frame rails. This is designed as a protector, not a battering ram.
24. NO blocking shocks, spring jacks, shackles, car must have free suspension.
25. A steel pipe or tube can be placed behind driver's seat from side to side.
26. Cars must be clean of all debris prior to coming to this event.
27. All cars must have brakes to enter.
28. If equipped, all steering and passengers air bags are to be depleted or removed.
29. Hood must be fastened down in four (4) places. Mandatory openings to be cut in hood over each side of carburetor, approximately 8" of larger.
30. Hood sheet metal must remain over top of fan blade, electric fans OK. If hood is removed, mechanical fan blade must also be removed.
31. No chaining, bolting, screwing, wiring, or welding body sheet metal to frame.
32. Driver's door interior upholstery must remain in place or be suitably replaced.
33. Driver's door must be reinforced. Reinforcement may be achieved by way of using an appropriate roll bar with cage or must be reinforced by one of these methods: cement in door; recommended method is a steel plate 1/8 thick and minimum 18" in width welded or securely bolted to outside of the door, not to exceed 8 inches in front or behind the door break. Center line of plate should be at drivers hip height. All other doors must be securely fastened by chain, wire, seat belt or welded. (No Driver's Door Reinforcement ‚ NO Run).
34. Should outer drivers door skin or reinforcement get ripped off, torn or fall off, car will be disqualified also car will be disqualified if any door comes open.
35. Trunk lid may be wired, chained, or welded. Chain may not exceed 1/4 inch in diameter.
36. All fastened trunk lids must have inspection opening.
37. Replacing or covering rusted sheet must be done with same gauge sheet metal thickness. No doubling or tripling of body sheet metal ANYWHERE!!
38. NO double plating, reinforcing, excessive welding or added braces (inside or outside) of frame allowed. If any, all will be subject to approval and discretion of the Berlin Raceway officials.
39. Both front doors must be left blank. Special numbers will be permitted on a first come first served basis. Numbers must be 24 inches high with 2 inch brush stroke on both doors.
40. Cars may be decorated but only in good taste.
41. Must run an ignition switch. NO bare wire ends allowed for ignition off/on or starter.
42. No double or liquid filled tires allowed. Tires must not exceed 15 inches or 6 ply-C-LOAD RANGE MAXIMUM. TIRE RATING MUST BE VISIBLE. (Highlight with paint, chalk, etc.) No studs or screws in rims to hold tires. Tires will be determined illegal if no marking visible on casing. All wheel weights must be removed.
43. No starting fluid allowed in auto during event.
44. All modified exhaust piped must exit down or straight up through hood.
45. Driver must wear long sleeved shirt, long pants and closed-toe shoes. A fire-proof suit is recommended.
46. Skid plates are allowed.
47. 47. No steering knob.
