Salem, IN (May 23, 2007) – Crown Marketing and the CRA Super Series have announced that Spray Power Multi-Purpose Cleaner will be the Presenting Sponsor of the CRA 125 CRA Super Series event this Saturday at Berlin Raceway. The unique .438 semi-banked oval has been one of the strongest short tracks in the country, known for its great race fans and tough competitors. For the first time ever the CRA Super Series will share the race card at the Marne, Michigan track with the Berlin Raceway Coors Light Outlaw Late Models.

Last season’s CRA Super Series event at Berlin Raceway was one of the most exciting events in series history. Allegan, Michigan native Tim Curry won a thrilling and action packed event after breaking the track record in claiming the Appleton Rack & Pinion Fast Qualifier Award, then winning the battle on the track against Scott Hantz and Billy Shotko to get the victory, his first ever series victory that he dedicated to Scott Baker, a friend who was tragically killed in a racing incident several years ago.

The event was lead at the drop of the green flag by CRA Super Series Rookie Of The Year Candidate John Van Doorn, a former regular at Berlin Raceway. Scott Hantz charged to the lead on lap 16 and lead the event until lap 93, holding off Curry and Shotko several times before slight contact from Curry loosened up Hantz opening the door for Shotko to pass both on the outside to get the lead on lap 94. Shotko lead until lap 103 when Hantz worked underneath to reclaim the lead, Shotko battled back to lead lap 114, but Hantz reclaimed the lead for a third time on lap 115.

A late caution on lap 117 set-up a final 8-lap shoot out that saw six different cars all battling for the win. Besides Hantz, Curry and Shotko, Jeff Lane, Greg Usher and Alec Carll, the 17-year-old Grand Rapids native, joined in the battle over the closing laps. Curry power to the inside of Hantz going into turn three to claim the lead finally on lap 121. The battled continued all the way to the checkers with Hantz getting second, Carll third, Usher fourth and Michael Gaier in fifth after contact between Usher and Lane resulted in Lane running off the backstretch and making hard contact with the tire barrier.

CRA Super Series point’s leader Chris Gabehart leads a strong group of series regulars entered for the event. 2006 series Champion Scott Hantz, the winner of last Sunday’s series event at Baer Field Speedway looks to continue his winning ways. Veteran Jeff Lane had been running strong again this season and is looking for his first series victory of 2007. Other series regulars entered include veteran racers Jack Landis, Kenny Tweedy, Eddie Van Meter, JR Roahrig, Rick Turner, and up and coming Jason Shively who has two straight six places finishes. John Van Doorn leads a strong group of rookie contenders that also includes Sean Matthuis, Ray Mooi, Nick Baran, Donald Karr Jr., and Kalamazoo native Jeff Bozell.

As is always the case, a strong group of Michigan drivers will be ready to challenge the CRA Super Series regulars for bragging rights at their home track led by local racing legend Fred Campbell. Campbell, a ten-time track Champion at Berlin Raceway, has won two of the five CRA Super Series events held at Berlin Raceway to date, with the other victories going to Hantz, Ross Meeuwsen, and last year’s victory by Tim Curry. Campbell is tied for seventh in total series victories with six wins.

Brian Campbell, a winner last season with the CRA Super Series at Kalamazoo Speedway and son of Fred Campbell, has entered along with teammate Terry Van Haitsma, a regular in the track’s Outlaw Late Models. Part-time CRA Super Series competitor and former Berlin regular Andy Ponstein is entered to try and get his first series victory at Berlin Raceway. Billy Shotko and Alec Carll have entered along with Michigan natives Andrew Conklin, Chris Anthony, Chris Koslek, and Tony Staffen. Local car owner Roger Andrews has filed an entry with former ASA Touring Series competitor Robbie Pyle behind the wheel. Pyle has always been very competitive at the CRA Super Series events he has ran, but is still seeking his first series victory.

Pit gates will open for the Saturday’s CRA 125 Presented By Spray Power at Berlin Raceway at 11:30am. Practice is set to begin at 2:20pm, qualifying will be at 5:20pm.
