March 20, 2007 NASCAR star Kurt Busch to appear at Berlin Raceway Marne, MI - Berlin Raceway announced today that 2004 NASCAR Nextel Cup Champion Kurt Busch will make an appearance at "The Chet" sponsored by Comerica Bank at the historic half-mile track on Wednesday, August 15. Busch, who will be in Michigan for the NASCAR Nextel Cup race at Michigan International Speedway that weekend, will be signing autographs from his souvenir trailer and doing radio and PA interviews during the race. Busch, a Las Vegas native and the current driver of the #2 Penske Racing Miller Lite car, started his racing career in the nineties in Dwarf and Hobby Stock leagues before moving to the Southwest Touring Series. Busch then joined the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2000 driving for Jack Roush, where he won four races and finished second in points, earning him the honor of rookie of the year. Busch moved up to NASCAR Nextel Cup in 2001, won his first race at Bristol in 2002 and went on to win the NASCAR Nextel Cup in 2004 in the inaugural Chase for the Nextel Cup. Kurt Busch joins a growing list of NASCAR stars to appear at Berlin Raceway since 2001, including brother Kyle Busch, Rusty Wallace, Bobby Labonte (twice), Michael Waltrip, Tony Stewart (twice), Kenny Schrader (twice), Dick Trickle and Johnny Benson (18 times). He is the second NASCAR Nextel Cup driver scheduled to visit Berlin Raceway in 2007; as announced last week, Ryan Newman will race in the PRA Big Car Series 150 lap race on Wednesday, June 13. The Chet, held in memory of track founder Chet Mysliwiec, is a $5,000 to win, 100-lap Coors Light Late Model race and it is also a fundraiser; $1 from every ticket sold will be donated to St. John's Home of Grand Rapids. Tickets for "The Chet" are $20 in advance and $25 day-of-race. Children ages 6 to 12 are half price and 2 and under are free. Tickets for "The Chet" and the full Berlin Raceway season are on sale now and can be purchased by phone to Berlin Raceway at (616) 677-5000 or online at www.berlinraceway.com.
