***5/1/2012 - ATTN Sportsman Drivers: In an effort to keep everything fair and on a level playing field with the variety of different makes and models in this class Berlin Raceway Officials have decided that the removal of the spoilers in this division is the most logical thing to do. Removal of the spoilers shall take effect immediately so that when the division returns on the 5th of May 1, 2012 all cars in this division will not have a spoiler.***

***2/7/2012 - Attn: Sportsman drivers - Some question has been brought up for clarity of the Sportsman body rules.

Regarding the body rules: Sec 4 Body/
A. STOCK APPEARING STEEL BODIES may be Aftermarket or OEM
C. Fenders, Doors, Quarter Panels, and Hoods if fabricated must be similar in appearance to those produced by Five Star/ Arp for these rules.
E. Maximum Rear over hang measured from centerline of rear hub to base of spoiler is 47”
This is a Max on the spoiler overhang to accommodate the variety of different makes and models. This does not mean add extra material pieces to your quarters to get to the 47” mark, hence it would not be Stock Appearing nor look Similar in Appearance to those produced by manufacturer.

***1/17/2012 - Front and rear windows are mandatory, no exceptions***

***12/28/2011 - An update has been added to the tires in the Sportsman General Rules. See below for more information.

***(11/21/2011) ATTN: Sportsman Drivers!

There has been a lot of questions regarding the Sportsman bodies for the 2012 racing season on what is allowed and what isn't.

If the car came off the line from the manufacturer between 1960 and 1989 with a minimum 108" wheelbase that body is allowed!

***Example 1980 Chevy Camaro is legal, 1988 Mustang is not.***

Also, the base weight for a manfuactured frames are now 3100 lbs instead of 3150 lbs.

***(11-15-11)We have received a number of phone calls and emails concerning the Sportsman division. Some of those concerns are regarding the roll cage, and the last thing that we would want to do is obsolete your chassis that you have been running for the past few years or make you cut up your frame. The rule is the same as the Super Stocks and was installed mainly for people that are building new cars to build them to that rule so if you wanted to move up you would not have to cut your frame all apart or have to piece anything in. We also had three divisions looking basically alike to the average fan and had to get a grasp on it due to the fact of getting to costly with the advancements in technology and such.

The Five Star reference number that we used for the body is NOT the body that you have to run, that is to simply show what we are looking for, especially racers that are going to fabricate some of there own panels . You may run any 1960- 1989 American Made stock production steel body (exception Five Star Fiberglass Roof 601-51x2).
The Base Weight is something that we looked at some other tracks and series and compared to ours and that is what we came up with (we are still reviewing it). If you have a FULL stock frame the weight is 3050 and any tubular frame its 3150 as of right now, we are still reviewing that as previously stated.

As previously stated we DO NOT want to make your cars obsolete especially racers that have been supporting the raceway for years. We want this division to get back to its roots of being more of a lower cost division and we understand making teams put a new body on right off the bat is not saving them money or time but in the long term we feel it will.

Thank You and we look forward to seeing you at the track in 2012!
