Early entry list shows star studded field heading to Battle at Berlin
-Drivers from all over the US coming to compete for $100,000 purse-
Marne, MI -- Earlier this week, Berlin Raceway officials announced plans for the Battle at Berlin on Saturday, June 15, a revamped version of the long-standing Rowdy 251, and entries have been streaming in. With just over three weeks remaining until the race, there are already 32 entries submitted for this prestigious race with more expected to trickle in in the coming weeks.
The first competitor to throw his hat in the ring was Ross Meeuwsen, who is currently the point leader in two of Berlin’s local divisions. Other local drivers who are scheduled to race include Brandon Hermiller, Tim DeVos, Brian Campbell, Terry VanHaistma, Chris Anthony, Dave Lake, Johnny VanDoorn, Josh Hobson, Andrew Nylaan, Jay Niewiek, Lauren Bush, Dave Sensiba and Chad Finley.
The Battle at Berlin has also piqued the interest of Brad Keselowski Racing who has entered both Zak Hausler and Austin Therault in the event. Additionally, Ross Kenseth will be back at Berlin to compete in the 251 lap race. ARCA/CRA Super Series and JEGS All Stars Tour regulars like Joe Beaver, Rick Turner, Ali Kern, Anderson Bowen, T.J. Reaid, Kyle Benjamin, Cody Coughlin and Bubba Pollard are also slated to contend.
Not only is the Battle at Berlin going to feature the biggest stars in short track auto racing but it is also going to feature a $100,000 total purse, one of the largest in pavement super late model racing. The winners share is $15,000 and it pays $1,500 to start the 251 lap main event.
There is also a possible bonus attached to it being the first race of the $100,000 ARCA / CRA Super Series Triple Crown that also features the Redbud 300 and the Winchester 400 both later in the year. Any driver to win all three events will collect a cool $100,000 bonus virtually un-heard of in short track auto racing. On top of that, race officials are offering a $5,000 bonus to any driver that can win the 100 lap JEGS All Stars Tour race, on Friday, June 14 and the Battle at Berlin 251, on Saturday, June 15 together.
