Driver Letter
February 14, 2008
Dear Berlin Raceway Driver,
Welcome to the 2008 Berlin Raceway season presented by Comerica Bank! Enclosed is your registration form. Please fill it out and return it by April 1 so that we can get your information listed on our web site in a timely fashion. If we receive your completed registration form after April 1, we cannot guarantee that you or your sponsors will be listed in the Opening Night program insert or that your profile will be posted on Berlin's website before the season begins. A couple of notes regarding this form:
- Please read over the entire form, correct any wrong information, and fill in any incomplete information. Drivers cannot register online since we need a signature on file for tax purposes. You must correct, complete and sign the enclosed form.
- It is our policy to keep your information private. We will not give out your personal information to the public or to any outside companies. However, circumstances arise from time to time in which other Berlin Raceway drivers and/or the media may need to contact you. If you wish to keep your information completely private and NOT allow us to provide your phone number to anyone, please check the box at the bottom of the form.
- We must have complete car owner information, including Social Security Number or Federal Employer Identification Number, in order to pay you in cash after the race. If the car owner is a company, the name and address listed must match the name and address that the federal government has on file for that FEIN number.
- If you change car owners or tax information during the season, you must fill out a 1099 Change Request listing the date(s) the change is in effect and the new owner information. The Change Request forms are always available in the scoring tower.
PIT STALLS
A reminder that the deadline for securing your pit stalls is February 29. If I have not heard from you by that time, I will assume that you do not want your same spot back and will place someone else in that spot. We have had a lot of requests from Pro Stock drivers to be placed on Pit Road, so if you are a Late Model or Super Stock driver and want to be on pit road, please let me know by February 29. At that time I will be putting together the 2008 pit stall chart. I need to hear from everyone who wants a reserved spot, whether you want to keep your 2007 spot, request a new location or did not have a spot last year but would like one this year. Please contact me at (616) 726-7017 or email me at lashcroft@berlinraceway.com with your requests. I will send the 2008 chart, along with invoices for those who reserved spots, in the next mailing in March. Payment will be due by opening night.
CONCRETE PADS - if you're interested in installing a concrete pad in your pit stall, please contact Mike Strevel at (616) 726-7013. Concrete installation is at your expense and must be approved by Mike.
POINTS/STARTING FIELDS
A 2008 points chart is enclosed. The only change to the points chart from last season is the elimination of the hard charger bonus points. Starting fields for each division will be: 24 cars (Late Model and Super Stock) and 22 cars (Pro Stock and Sportsman). In each division, if there are more cars than feature positions, we will run Last Chance races and transfer four cars. For example, if there are 27 Pro Stock cars that qualify, 18 will lock in to the feature and the remaining cars will race in a Last Chance; the top four finishers transfer to the feature as positions 19 through 22. The Last Chance race doubles as the consi race.
THE TRACKSIDE SHOW
We had a great turnout, given the weather, for the first Trackside Show of the season, which was held Tuesday night at Shots. Congrats to Nick Sherrington for winning two tires in the first of the weekly driver tire drawings! The Trackside Show airs on WLAW 92.5 FM The Outlaw on Tuesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. and is broadcast live from Shots Grill on Lake Michigan Drive. Stop by for your pre-season racing fix!
