Driver Letter

January 16, 2008

Dear Berlin Raceway Driver,

We hope that your off-season is going smoothly and your cars are well on their way to being ready for the season opener!

RULES UPDATES
1) LM - left side weight should be 62 percent, not 60 percent as stated in the rules that were sent out.
2) LM roof measurement - rule #3-F-2 should state: 45" minimum roof height, measured at 10" and 28" from front of roof (not 38").
3) SS - under 3C (front suspension), we are adding "stock configuration." No changes to links allowed.
4) 4Cyl - The "Car Claim Rule" is in place to keep your car costs low. As the rule states, only the track has the right to claim your car for $1,500; none of your competitors have the right to claim your car. If we feel that a car has an advantage due to excessive spending, we reserve the right to claim it for $1,500, so keep your costs below that!

PIT STALLS
If you had a reserved pit stall in 2007 and would like to either keep the same spot for 2008 or move to a new location, please call Lori on my direct line at (616) 726-7017 or email me at lashcroft@berlinraceway.com no later than February 29. At that time I will make any changes possible. Those of you who wish to keep your spot and are not changing divisions will have the right to do so. If you are changing divisions (other than from Sportsman to Pro Stock or vice versa), you will be required to move your pit stall to that division's area (exceptions may be made for team cars running in different divisions). Any movement of spots will be based on availability and, if conflicts arise, will be based on your points finish in 2007. Drivers are not required to reserve season-long pit stalls, but it is recommended, particularly if you're racing a Late Model and Super Stock divisions and want to park on the asphalt.

NEW FOR 2008: Any pit road spots that are still open after the February 29 reservation deadline will become available to Pro Stock teams. Your requests for pit road spots must be made by February 29 as well, so you should request a spot in your regular area and a spot on Pit Road at the same time, in case there are openings on Pit Road. I'll fill Pit Road spots based on 2007 driver points from those who have requested these spots. Four cylinder drivers may request spots on the backstretch ($75); any empty spots in that area after Feb. 29 will be filled from the 4-Cylinder requests on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be aware that on many nights that the 4-Cylinders are running, not all of the other four divisions are racing; therefore, there will be some of the other divisions' reserved spots will be available.

In March I will send you the new chart showing 2008 pit stall locations. Payment for your spot must be made no later than Opening Night (April 12). Pricing is the same as last year:
Asphalt Pit Road Spots: $125
North Pro Stock Spots (pit road turn 1 behind concessions stand): $100
Pro Stock/Sportsman/4-Cylinder Backstretch Spots: $75

REGISTRATION FORMS
Registration forms will be sent out in the next drivers mailing in mid-February. All racers are required to complete this form before competing.

TRACK PRACTICE DATES
This season, drivers will have better access to the track for all drivers practice. Berlin Raceway has received approval from Wright Township to allow six evening open practice sessions. These "test & tunes" will be held once a month from 5 to 9 p.m. and are open to all divisions - no reservations necessary. Dates are:
Tuesday April 22
Tuesday May 13
Tuesday June 3
Tuesday July 8
Tuesday Aug 5
Thursday Sept 11
Pit passes for these practices are $20 each. Rain dates will be the next day, same time. There will be no private test sessions on Wednesday afternoons this season.

NEW RADIO STATION - 92.5 THE OUTLAW
The 2008 Berlin Raceway season has a new home on the FM dial. The entire season will be broadcast live on WLAW 92.5 FM The Outlaw. This change was made in order to continue to broadcast races live as well as to continue to broadcast The Trackside Show live on Tuesday nights from Shots. Please see the press release for details.

THE TRACKSIDE SHOW AT SHOTS
The 2008 Trackside Show debuts on Tuesday, February 12 from 6 to 7 p.m. and will again be broadcast live all season long at Shots Grill, Pizzeria and Pub, 4239 Lake Michigan Drive in Standale. As noted above, the broadcast will be on WLAW 92.5 FM The Outlaw. The show will be hosted by Tim O'Leary and co-hosted by one of Berlin Raceway's other radio announcers. Door prizes and food specials will continue for those in attendance at Shots, including the tire giveaway (two tires will be given each week to a driver in attendance via random drawing). Also, Billy Shotko and Mike Bursley of Perfect Circle Race Cars will be giving away a chassis at the end of year (bare chassis with tubbed interior). Details about the chassis giveaway will be publicized at Shots on February 12. In addition, fans will get the chance to see exclusive video from the previous Saturday night's Berlin Raceway action, which will be played on the big screen at Shots courtesy of track videographer PrimeTrax Video.

TRACK PHOTOGRAPHER
Berlin Raceway would like to welcome Randy Ellen as the official track photographer. Randy takes over for Tom DeVette, who we thank for his many years of service. Randy will be offering some exciting new conveniences for fans and racers, including a computerized kiosk at the track so fans can search for and print high-resolution digital photos on the spot. Randy will also be producing driver autograph cards at low competitive pricing for race teams. Visit Randy's website at randyellenphotography.com or contact Randy at reellen1@aol.com for more info.

BOYNE MACHINE RACE WEEKEND
Mike Blackmer has been working hard to put together a knockout of a show on Friday and Saturday, September 12 and 13. Blackmer and Boyne Machine have rented the track for the weekend and therefore are the race promoters. More than $130,000 in prize money will be awarded to the seven divisions racing, and Blackmer continues to secure sponsorships that will add to the purse. It will be the largest purse ever awarded in one weekend at Berlin and it should be a record car count, with our five divisions plus the CRA Super Series and USA Modifieds all competing. Please see the press release for details.

GATES OPEN AND PRACTICE TIMES
On racedays, gates will open at the same time as last year, which is 12 p.m. at the Turn 2 gate (pre-paid pit passes and sign-in sheets only; no money accepted) and 12:15 p.m. at the main Turn 4 pit gate. Practice will begin at 1:30 p.m.. Please check the Berlin Raceway website at www.berlinraceway.com weekly for each Saturday's practice times by division.
