Berlin Raceway Hall of Fame

The Berlin Raceway Hall of Fame seeks to preserve the history and heritage of Berlin Raceway by recognizing and honoring outstanding individuals who have made significant accomplishments in and contributions to the sport of auto racing at Berlin Raceway.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Driver Candidates:
1. Must have been retired from the sport of race car driving for a minimum of five years. (Provisions may be made for a candidate with extremely strong credentials if circumstances indicate that the normal five-year wait should be waived.)
2. Must have achieved significant accomplishments on the track at Berlin Raceway.
3. Racing accomplishments outside of Berlin Raceway may be considered if the driver's additional accomplishments made a considerable impact upon Berlin Raceway.

Lifetime Achievement Candidates:
1. Must have a minimum of 20 years service to auto racing at Berlin Raceway.
2. Must have made a considerable impact upon Berlin Raceway.
3. May be track officials or employees, crew members, team owners or lifetime contributors.

SELECTION PROCEDURES:
1. No more than three candidates per year shall be inducted into the Berlin Raceway Hall of Fame in the first five years of HOF inductions (2006-2010). The committee reserves the right to change the maximum number of inductees after the first five years.
2. Nominations for ballot consideration can be made by committee members at the annual HOF Selection Committee meeting, to be held in February of each year. Nominations can also be made by anyone outside the committee; the deadline for such nominations is the date of the annual meeting. Any nominations received after that deadline and throughout the year will be considered at the next annual committee meeting.
3. The person submitting the name of a candidate for consideration should seek to obtain all pertinent information regarding the individual to accompany the nomination. To submit a name for consideration, please use the Nomination Form, available at www.berlinraceway.com or at the administrative office, plus any additional information, articles, and pictures that may help make the case for the candidate's inclusion on the ballot. Names submitted without supporting information regarding the candidate may not be considered.
4. Nominations will be considered by the HOF selection committee. A maximum of 15 candidates will be included on the ballot in each of the first five years of the HOF; after that a maximum of 10 candidates will be included on the ballot.
5. A nominee on the ballot who does not receive the required number of votes for induction into the HOF must be re-nominated each year for inclusion on that year's ballot. Nominations are not automatically carried over to the following year.

VOTING PROCEDURES:
1. Voting will take place throughout the racing season via fan ballots located in the Berlin Raceway Program and on the Berlin Raceway Website.
2. Candidates on the ballot shall be voted on using a points system of 1 to 3, with 3 being the highest. Each voter shall place a 3 next to the name of his or her top choice for induction, a 2 next to the name of his or her second choice and a 1 next to his or her third choice. Supporting information on each candidate detailing his or her accomplishments will be included on the ballot.
3. No nominee shall be inducted into the HOF without being named on two-thirds of the fan ballots or two-thirds of the committee ballots. The candidates with the top three point totals, who also are named on two-thirds of the fan ballots cast, will be inducted. If less than three candidates are named on two-thirds of the fan ballots, the HOF Committee may elect additional candidates for induction to reach the maximum of three inductees; however, this is not a mandate to induct the maximum three candidates each year.

PRIVILEGES FOR INDUCTEES:
Inductees shall receive the following recognition upon their induction:
1. Commemorative Plaque with inductee's likeness permanently affixed to the Hall of Fame Wall at Berlin Raceway.
2. Commemorative Plaque for inductee to keep.
3. Two complimentary tickets to the Berlin Raceway Banquet, where inductees will be introduced.
4. Recognition in appropriate Berlin Raceway press releases, publications and web site.
